Baby Claire at 35 Weeks

Here is a snapshot of Claire's face at our ultrasound Tuesday. I think the black part covering half of her face is my bladder (which is seemingly always full these days). I can't beleive she will be here in about a month!

Looks like she will have those McGlothin family baby cheeks. And our ultrasound tech was also able to see that she has at least some hair (which is good news since I was bald until almost one year old)!

Bad Back Pain = Doctor Visit = Ultrasound!

So since Wednesday night, I've had some pretty bad lower back pain. It started as real sharp pain that didn't last long, just a sec, and then progressed to constant pain all across my lower back. I called the doctor and he wanted me to come in. So I started freaking out like something was wrong with the baby. He said that while lower back pain is not that common for pregnant women, he thinks mine is stress induced.

Just to make sure, he did and ultrasound to make sure Baby McGlothin was A-OK. And the baby is great. Healthy heartbeat at 162 bpm, but no guesses at gender yet.

In this last one, you can see the fingers! Crazy how much the baby has grown in three weeks.

Houston- We Have a Heartbeat

We had our first ultrasound yesterday and things look GREAT! Baby is growing with a heartrate of 175 bpm (which the doc says is super strong)! We are measuring right on schedule at 8 weeks and 3 days, confirming our due date of October 18, 2009.

Here is the first ultrasound picture. The small circle on the left is the yolk sac, feeding the baby until the placenta is formed (You might know this, but it's all new to me). Then the head is towards the bottom/left and the feet are at the top/ right.

The second picture you can see the little heart beating (it has parentheses around it) and we could see it pumping yesterday. It was so cool- Yes, I cried.

So this is really all happening, and we couldn't be more thrilled!

Tomorrow is the big day!

And it can't get here fast enough! I talked the nurse yesterday and confirmed that we will be having an ultrasound tomorrow and should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat! I think then it will really sink in for both Luke and I. Since he has no pregnancy symptoms, it will probably make it more real for him.

Please keep our family in your prayers as we take this big step and pray that baby is strong and growing.
